Sad news :: The death of Marilyn Feng

The tango community is a small and close-knit one. I did not know Marilyn, but I know people who knew her. She lived in NYC, and was killed by a drunk driver last night at around 3:30 a.m. Her companion, Dennis, is in critical condition.

My heart and love goes out to her family and friends.

Sad news indeed.

Here's a link with more info...

I knew Marilyn, and she was such a sweet girl. This was such a senseless loss, and I really hope they put that idiot away and throw away the key. If it were up to me, I'd just shoot these idiots. There is NO excuse for driving drunk. None.

I am a tenant across the street from where it happened. I saw them put her in a body bag. It was very sad, and disturbing. My heart goes out to her family and her boyfriend as well. **the crosswalks that they provide for pedestrians are ridiculous, I hope the city realizes this-and closes that cross walk all together!

I just want to say thank you, as Marilyn's schoolmate and friend in both middle and high school.

She loved tango and life so much.

I knew Marilyn; we danced several times, hung out, and were in the same tango class together at NYU. She took a lot of joy in the dance and in life. What a sad, sad loss.

I knew both Dennis & Marilyn, and adored them both. I met Dennis shortly after he began tango a few years ago & was impressed with his musicality & graciousness. When he introduced me to Marilyn, I was so happy for him. She was a lovely porcelain doll, sweet & perfect-- one of those people who, when you meet them, you begin to believe that maybe angels do walk the earth. It was so beautiful to see a couple who were so in love. I was so used to seeing them come late to tango at Lafayette Grill where I dance weekly, & just last night wondered why I hadn't seen them. [I had been ill for a few weeks in January & February, and hadn't been to tango then; my friends, unaware that I hadn't heard of the accident, failed to tell me. Dennis, I am so very sorry.] My heart is broken.

Dennis, sweet man: if you read this, please know that I am here for you. [If a friend of Dennis' reads this, please tell him.]
