I like to watch, or "You might want to sit down for this vals."

It might make you dizzy. A found YouTube object by Rigoberto. Real Tango. Tango Tango. Okay, vals, really.

This video is further evidence supporting my theory that Tango Tango does not involve white shoes, and that when white shoes are present (on the male of the species), Tango Tango is not what is being danced.

Sebastian Arce y Mariana Montes.

Enjoy. And comment. I like comments. (In the voice of Chauncey Gardener (Peter Sellers) in the film 'Being There', when he says to Shirley McClain's character, "I like to watch.")

(flip the switch if you don't want it in high def...it will load faster....)

Agreed on white shoes. I've been at work 45 minutes and I've watched the video 3 times already. This may not be one of my most productive work days.

And I was beginning to think I was the only one who had seen Being There. Love that movie.

Well, wow! Definitely prefer the black shoe version (just to make sure I watched the white shoe version on youtube again....same song, La Viruta, white shoes...)Interesting ;-)

Hola Claudita! Can you post the link to the white shoe version you watched?

Watching it again, I actually do quite like it, too....it's maybe even musically more interesting in places...

Hi Alex!

I have a soft spot for questionable footwear, so I was secretly hoping someone would find a fantastic white-shoe video, as I am far too lazy to do it myself. Some part of me was insisting that the existence of amazing dancers in non-black shoes doesn't disprove the existence of amazing dancers in white shoes. Or of, uh, the same guy with more than one pair of shoes.

Well, Sebastian has both black and white...he is amazing...and the colour of his shoes seems to influence the way he dances ;-)

oops--I meant "...the existence of amazing dancers in *black* shoes doesn't disprove" etc.

Hi Alex, how are you?

So then, what about this video, which I think is magnificent and rooted in more traditional dancing?

Thanks everyone for all the comments!

Hola Malevito, I am well. It is a beautiful dance, very rooted in traditional/milonguero styles. I see Villa Urquiza and Salon - he goes between the two as the dance progresses. As it should be, albeit not 'pure' milonguero as you know. See the broken embrace (transitioning into salon), the turning enganche or wrap (nice), the lift at the end, the white shoes...

Beautiful dance though, thanks for sharing. There is another one from this event - a milonga - that I've posted before.

Great dancers.

oh blast! there goes the white shoe theory ;-) I liked it so much....oh, but wait, wasn't there something about the exception proving the rule?

Arce is an absolute powerhouse of a man and an artist. He once started a class I was in saying 'Why are you all in this class? You are obviously tango experts if you are all sitting around talking and not warming up for class!'
