Oh man, I did this to a guy who is a wonderful dancer, and just home from BA he finally asked me, and it was so nice. Around the second song I said Thanks, and then quickly saved myself with talking too much too fast. We are so used to saying thanks when things go well!
I agree with Elizabeth. Sometimes in the rush of excitement, and to be polite and nice, I say thank you because I really mean that: Wow, thank you! Not I'm done, thanks!
It took me a while to realize that I had been shooting myself in the foot with people that I really like. What a dummy.
