I agree that the instrumentation and the general sound are somehow perfect - I suppose because of when it was written and recorded, and what for. I think the associations - the humorous feel - would throw me a little.
It might have a lot of style if you were playing as a visiting guest DJ and your US-ness were made a thing of in the billing.
Yes, it's fun, but a little too much. The volume level would have be turned down to a great degree. And it's definitely very up-beat. If everyone at the milonga were actually asleep, it would be a good one to wake everyone up. Or, for some humorous effect.
Besides the fact that it is utter unusable, it still somehow seems like the perfect cortina - for cartoons I suppose.
I've heard wierder cortinas. You should try it just once. I think my least favourite so far has been the totally bizarre plainchant-with-a-beat that was far too long.
