I agree that the instrumentation and the general sound are somehow perfect - I suppose because of when it was written and recorded, and what for. I think the associations - the humorous feel - would throw me a little. It might have a lot of style if you were playing as a visiting guest DJ and your US-ness were made a thing of in the billing.
Yes, it's fun, but a little too much. The volume level would have be turned down to a great degree. And it's definitely very up-beat. If everyone at the milonga were actually asleep, it would be a good one to wake everyone up. Or, for some humorous effect.Besides the fact that it is utter unusable, it still somehow seems like the perfect cortina - for cartoons I suppose. The perfection of the perfect cartoona cortina.
I've heard wierder cortinas. You should try it just once. I think my least favourite so far has been the totally bizarre plainchant-with-a-beat that was far too long. Was it you at tanguerita's blog saying you were sad you couldn't speak German? I've translated a little bit, back at her post, but the comment might not be approved yet.
Yes that was me I think.
