Here is a video of Murat & Michelle dancing a demo at the DC Tango Marathon last week.
The first comment on this video warns Michelle not to get too carried away with her adornments...what do you guys think?
On a separate subject, what do you think about teachers, relatively well known national/international teachers, who blow off a scheduled private lesson and then act like it was no big deal? No apology, no nothing. A friend was telling me about this...not just blowing it off, but a total no-show on the part of the teachers...
What's up with that?

Well - she moves with a lovely fluidity, but there are some moments when it seems she's trying to conduct the orchestra with her knees. I wondered if it was a didactic demo rather than a performance, but then it would be unusual for the students to be sitting down. If I were her, I'd probably post my own comment ASAP.
From La Tanguerita...she accidentally posted this comment to "Fathers & Daughters"...
"I agree. To me it seems, that she goes way over the top with adornos. Murat could as well have phoned it in."
Sorry and thanks for moving my comment to a more appropriate place: I must have been unconscious or something.:-)
Oh, no problem...I didn't want it to be all lonesome and out of place over there...
On the subject of this post...I will only offer this...
"Less is more."
Always.
My mama always said, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."
Love that quote, Nancy.
And oh, when did ronde de jambes become adornos? With the enormous influence of ballerinas-turned-tangueras, I'm afraid we are going to see a lot more tippy-toe-tango, ronde de jambes/grand jete embellishments, and technically brilliant yet unemotional presentations.
Contrast this performance with this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OapIHm43e34), which I actually saw last year at Valentango.
Here's the hot link from Johanna's comment:

Also, I believe Michelle comes from a ballet/modern dance background...so what Johanna mentioned would make sense...
But, I do believe they are both very skilled, committed, and beautiful dancers...this just might be an isolated case of too much of a good thing...
Oh, I like that Cumparsita! Joyous and lovely. Thanks Johanna.
Thanks Ms. H. Like Alex said: Less is more.
Are you listening you Divas!!!!???
hm... it looks like murat is leading a lot of those knee things, too. at some points, he is holding her knee, and moving her to and fro so that her leg is swinging over and over again.
if you cut those out, michelle doesn't really do that* many adornos... she does a lot, but i'm just saying... maybe they're not coming from just her initiative.
:-D
I hate cake with too much icing.
